Yesterday I carried out an manoeuvre apparently call the Banbury shuffle in a set of staircase locks.
It's when two boats are in the centre lock and one in the top lock and when the water levels have levelled out one boat from the centre lock passes into the empty space in the top lock.
The second crosses over into the vacated space to allow me to enter the centre lock.
