Despite the poor internet the marina is very quiet and friendly so have managed to get up to date on paperwork.

Left Fradley on Tuesday to head to Kings Bromley Marina for a few days but because of the poor internet I have not been able to update the blog.

Sunday, 26 May 2024

We reached Fradley Junction the photo's were taken before the showers started we are going to stay here for two days as we need to be in Great Haywood on Thursday/Friday.

Left Alrewas today between the showers after getting soaked after the hose come off the water tap whilst filling, they always advertise the Art Festival on the bridge leading out of Alrewas.

Had an early start this morning as thought we would have to line up to see if the river was open when we reached Barton lock we were informed it was open and on Amber, so up Wynchor Lock on to the river section to Alrewas.

Yesterday we stocked up shopping and serviced up at Shobnall Marina but still no news on the river levels we decided to move on only to moor next to the very busy A34.

The last couple of days we have stayed in Burton on Trent the bottom picture shows the towpath in 2016 and now it's a race track and no room to sit out.

Tuesday, 21 May 2024

Currently moored in Burton on Trent got a new phone, contract but same number, first message I get from CRT is a lock closure at Stoke on Trent from the 4th-19th June so a complete change to our cruising plan.

Sunday, 19 May 2024

We left Mercia today cruising up the cut to allow for washing to be done and dried as you are not allowed washing lines in the marina.

Saturday, 18 May 2024

We have been booked into Mercia Marina for two nights leaving tomorrow morning, after the last two photo's I managed to drop my phone in the cut.

Yesterday we travelled through Stenson Lock which is very deep and you moor the boat a little way back as the water is fierce when it is released from the lock.

Thursday, 16 May 2024

Yesterday we cruised on to Swarkestone Lock and have stayed today as it has rained all day, this is where I lost our friends boat Intrepid many years ago as the wind was blowing so hard I couldn't hold on to her and she got blown across the canal.

Monday, 13 May 2024

Today we left Sawley Marina to travel along the River Trent to Derwent Lock to enter the Trent and Mersea Canal passing through Sawley to Weston Lock in earshot of Castle Donnington Race course.

Sunday, 12 May 2024

The last couple of days have managed to get a couple of outstanding jobs done, hopefully the thunder storms will hold off as we are cruising off tomorrow on to the Trent and Mersey Canal.

Friday, 10 May 2024

Last night we moored at Sawley and this morning we moved into Sawley Marina for a few days as we are ahead of schedule.

As we left the River Soar and entered on to the River Trent we said our goodbyes to our lock partners.
