After stocking up on food we decided to move on from Market Harborough and cruised on to bridge 6 to have a view over open fields.

Sunday, 28 April 2024

Last night we moored in Market Harborough where we are going to stay for a couple of days.
Yesterday Craig cruised the boat down Foxton Locks and as we set off from the top David gave us a wave from his boat as we passed.

We have moored at the top of Foxton Locks and took a walk with the dogs down the locks stopping off to have a pint in the Bridge 61 pub where we briefly saw David Suchet who is a keen boater.

Today we travelled up to Welford to pick up the boat and as the weather was nice we decided to start travelling with Craig at the helm.

Todays progress on The Maisibert first coat of blacking, tunnel bands painted and new anodes.

Friday, 19 April 2024

The work has started preparation for blacking completed, painting of the tunnel bands and new anodes.

After a phone call yesterday asking if we could get the boat in so work could start today we travelled down the arm to meet a traffic jam on the one and only lock, so returned to Braintree and will pick the boat up on Friday.

We arrived at the top of the Welford Arm Wednesday but because of poor internet I was not able to update the blog, it was a cold and windy journey.

After completing Watford Locks the next challenge was Crick Tunnel normally very wet inside the tunnel but suprising after the amount of rain we have had recently it was fairly dry.

Although the canal is quiet we had a fairly long wait at Watford Locks for one boat to travel up and two boats to travel down the reason being the locks are staircase.

Monday, 15 April 2024

After a meal in The Admiral Nelson with Jackie and Nick we decided to brave the wind and rain and travel through Braunston Tunnel to Norton Junction.

Yesterday we cruised into Braunston well known for not being able to get Internet hence the updating today.
