A very wet day in Parbold after we moored yesterday  afternoon to wait for Craig to join us today to do the Ribble Link on Monday.

Thursday, 29 June 2023

We had an 7 hour cruise yesterday passing the ex Dover Lock Pub to get stuck at the locks in Wigan because of low water, once we were on the move again we passed Wigan Pier only to get soaked in a sharp shower then because of the low water we had to moor below Appley Lock.

We found this wooden carved statue which has a pride and place in the middle of the development.

The last few days we have been moored in Pennington Marina which forms a part of a new devolpment which was developed by Wimpey Homes but the only trouble when they designed the marina they didn't put in a pumpout or Elsan.

Sunday, 25 June 2023

Today we have moved on passing the mill buildings and leaving the Bridgewater and on to the Leeds Liverpool canal, we are now currently moored in Pennington Marina sheltering from heavy rain and thunder and lightening.

As we carried on cruising we passed this lovely timber framed building at Worsley, we then discovered that on the Bridgewater you can moor both sides so last we moored in a lovely spot for the dogs and the boat got a wash.

Yesterday we turned at Water's Meet cruising past the Kelloggs Factory and travelled over the Manchester Shipping Canal.

Friday, 23 June 2023

Today we sailed through Sale passing two lots of school children enjoying time in their canoes, Hilary asked why they had cranes in various places it's because the Bridgewater is so wide that the stop planks are so large so need a crane to put them in place, tonight we have rain showers.

Some picturesof the moorings in Lymm

We thought we would take the dofs for a walk into town expecting to be quiet but walked into a food/drink festival.

Next stop on the plan was Lymm so after taking on diesel and water we set off early afternoon passing the sorry sight of someones pride and joy in a poor state, we get to Lymm to discover that there is a boat festival this weekend.

Short cruise today to Stockton Heath to restock and both get haircuts, the Manchester Ship Canal passes through the town and traffic is regulary held up as large boats pass under the bridge.

Last night where we were moored the Dulux Factory at the end of the River Weaver looked nice at night.

Tuesday, 20 June 2023

After leaving the tunnel you are straight on the Bridgewater Canal which you have to book travel through, tonight we are moored in country.

Delayed start to day due to the rain but we left the Trent and Mersey Canal after leaving the Preston Brook Tunnel which we were only allowed to travel upon the hour.

Monday, 19 June 2023

This morning before we set off we took the dogs for a walk to have a look at the Anderton Lift in action and then cruised on to the site of Dutton Breach where in 2012 the towpath disappeared down the side of the bank.
