Tonight we are moored below Lock 24 Weston Lock as it started to pour down with rain and also because Lock 25 Sandon Lock has been shut for the last three days as they attempted to remove a log from a Culvert, as I write this the lock has just reopened.

Yesterday we travelled through the Armitage Tunnel stopping off at Rugeley for supplies and then cruising on to Great Haywood where there was plenty of room to moor below the lock.

As we had to cruise on we passed the blot on the landscape of the failed section of HS2 and a Lock Keepers cottage that was Compulsory Purchased for the project.

Yesterday we didn't cruise because they were forcasting very hot weather but in the morning there was rain and thunderstorms.

So today we thought we would moor a Fradley but it was full so had to cruise on to Handsacre.

Today we left Bradley Green  cruising through Polesworth which is an ex mining area on to Fazeley Junction.

Yesterday we left Hawkesbury Junction passing the junction for the Ashby Canal to moor up in Atherstone, today we travelled down the 11 locks to moor up at Bradely Green as there were a lot of boats comming up the locks meaning the locks were in our favour.

 

We set off on our journey on a wet Thursday passing the breach which they are nearly completed repairing.

Ironic it was the warmest and sunniest day on the return journey so took a slow journey back just to enjoy it.

Today we arrived back at the marina to return back to Essex this weekend and hope to return to cruising at a later date hopefully when the weather improves.

So there will be a break in postings but will return when we set out again.

Today we passed through the site of the landslip just before the marina, in fact there is three two large and one smaller one exposing the foundations of a bridge.

Although works are well on the way but there were signs of a start for a fourth.

Today we passed Springwood Haven who painted the boat then past the last remaining telegraph poles that had the cables from the original telegraph system then passing the boatyard owned by the guy who originally built the hull.

In the last picture is a place we moored when we first had the boat that looked over a small holding at Nuneaton.

Last night we moored north of Springwood Haven but before mooring we saw our neighbours from Brinklow so moored for a catchup then moved on to miss the showers.

Yesterday we came up the first set of locks into Atherstone and today we came up the last five and would you believe suffering water shortages on both sets of locks.

Although I take pictures nearly every time we pass it is dedicated to the mining industry and is a mining museum, we are moored ready to go up Atherstone locks tomorrow.

Saturday being my birthday it started with brunch then to the shops to spend some birthday money and then in the evening it was a couple of pints in the Three Tuns followed by a chinese takeaway back at the boat.

Friday we moved on to Fazely and was shocked by the lack of boats moored here.
