On our travels passing through Loughborough and not having another boat to share the double locks to our amazement we came across a boat to share some locks who were travelling to the River Trent so we decided to complete the River Soar.

Yesterday was another lovely day as we prepared to leave Barrow upon Soar with the green light to say it was safe to travel on the river Soar we dropped down the deep lock to start our days travels.
It was not long before we passed Pillings Lock Marina where Dianne and Peter kept Plan B.

In the first picture is us waiting at a lock because there was a boat in the lock the first travelling boat we have seen in days, filled up with diesel and they stated they are only seeing two customers a day.
We travelled on to Barrow upon Soar not sure what they feed the swans here as they are huge big enough to carry two people.

Cassie is sixteen today and still enjoys having her presents to unwrap.

Today we stayed at Birstall overlooking the Watermead Country Park which are created from old sandpits where fossils of a mammoth were found.

We were advised to travel through Leicester as there were celebrations for Leicester City winning the league, at a lock on our travels we filmed by a Indian guy for his Youtube channel.
We then dropped down a lock on to the River Soar passing the Leicester Cities ground, a brilliant wall painting and the Space Centre.

As we travelled down 12 locks today there was a guy who gave us a hand at one lock who was walking to Leicester after completing the lock he carried on walking then I noticed that the towpath was nothing but mud so I reversed up and picked him up and took  him to the next lock, he was being tracked by his daughter in Leicester so would wonder why he was walking in the middle of the canal.

We travelled through some of the beautiful Leicestshire countryside today the party was well on the way in this tented area at one lock, the people in the last picture waited for us to join them in the lock only to find out they were winding just out the lock.

Yesterday was the official start of the summer cruise first we caught up with Keith who we crossed the Ribble Link with last year at Debdale Wharf cruising on to Fleckney Bridge, the pictures show how overgrown the Leicester Section has become.

We are now officially heading towards Leicester by mooring at the bottom of Foxton Locks, we have had a couple of fairly dry and warm days so the dogs have had a walk.

Sunday, 28 April 2024

Last night we moored in Market Harborough where we are going to stay for a couple of days.
Yesterday Craig cruised the boat down Foxton Locks and as we set off from the top David gave us a wave from his boat as we passed.

Friday, 26 April 2024

We have moored at the top of Foxton Locks and took a walk with the dogs down the locks stopping off to have a pint in the Bridge 61 pub where we briefly saw David Suchet who is a keen boater.

Today we travelled up to Welford to pick up the boat and as the weather was nice we decided to start travelling with Craig at the helm.
