Today we have left Bristol for Bath, after a long wait to fill both boats with water we didn't make it, so we will complete the trip tomorrow.

Here some of Peter's pictures when we cruised down the Bristol Channel.

Saturday, 6 June 2015

Despite being moored amongst the bars and clubs we have survived  a Friday and Saturday night.
Cassie enjoyed the sun on the floating pontoon this morning as we have enjoyed the last couple of days in the Floating Harbour in Bristol.

Friday, 5 June 2015

We finally leave the lock and take a slow cruise through the floating harbour taking care not to get in the way of the canoes and dinghy's, passing S.S. Great Britain and finally mooring at approximately 8pm.

As we cruise we spot climber's on the Gorge walls we then cruise under the Bristol Gorge suspension bridge just before entering the lock into Bristol Floating Harbour.

At 5.45pm we leave Portishead to head to Bristol cruising up the River Avon

Because of the tides and water levels at Bristol we have to call into Portishead Marina, we have to enter marina via a sea lock with floating pontoons within the lock.
It is the only time we have stood inside a lock whilst it filled with water.

We got off to a racing start following Peter with pilot on board and then we get the warning on the approach to the Severn Bridge that things could get lively.
As we cruise between the bridges whirlpools and strong currents making the boat go side ways.

Yesterday we tackled the Bristol Channel on the best day of the week sunny, no wind and calm waters.
Once past the piers we were hoping for smooth cruise.

This is what we are going to face early tomorrow morning as we face the Bristol Channel.

This morning it was confirmed that we would be cruising the Bristol Channel tomorrow leaving Sharpness between 7.30 - 7.45.
We hope to get into Bristol tomorrow evening, the pictures show our first sight of the channel and the sunset tonight.

Tuesday, 2 June 2015

Today we have been battered with high winds and rain.
But a phone call from the pilot at Sharpness today to say that it is possible we may cruise the Bristol Channel on Thursday

Monday, 1 June 2015

Whilst we were back we saw auntie Joyce on her birthday on Saturday and Hilary saw her ex next door neighbour in her nursing home.
This weekend we travelled back to Essex to celebrate Poppy's first birthday.
There was a family and friends gathering on Saturday and we had a meal with Ray and Sacha on Sunday

These are Peter's pictures of the tall ship returning to Gloucester Docks, it just shows how small we are against it.

Yesterday would have been dad's birthday and the aniversary of the sad loss of mum.
So we placed flowers at the memorial plaque and a single flower from the great grand children.
We wont forget the both of you.

Thursday, 28 May 2015

As we left Gloucester today we met one of the tall ships returning to Gloucester.
She was so graceful in the water and made us look so small.
