After some long days we are now moored just outside Willington after passing through Burton Upon Trent.

Monday, 22 September 2014

Early start this morning and the day started with taking Cassie for walk around a lake at Fazeley Junction.
The morning was a beautiful misty morning.

Sunday, 21 September 2014

After a couple of long cruising days tonight we are moored at Fazeley Junction which leaves a couple of short days to reach Mercia on Thursday.
After leaving Rugby we travelled to just before Hawkesbury Junction and then the following day we headed on to Atherstone.
As we pass Charity Dock we see the current scene in the garden, it changes every time we pass.
Then shortly after we see the sad sight shown below.

Friday, 19 September 2014

The last couple of days have been spent moored in Rugby, yesterday I walked Cassie around an old gravel pit in Newbold only to get lost.

Monday, 15 September 2014

When we were in Braunston Hilary took the chance to pop into Daventry.
Today we had a visitor from New Zealand, Paul has returned to UK to attend his daughters wedding.

Friday, 12 September 2014

We are moored in Braunston  and last night we met up with Jackie, John, Jackie and Nick and had great evening in the Boat House.

Tuesday, 9 September 2014

Today we tackled the Napton flight where one of the locks has suffered a wall failure and passage has to be supervised by volunteer lock keepers.

The other day we tackled Fenny Tunnel  which is a narrow section where you hope that don't meet another boat.

Saturday, 6 September 2014

The last couple of days we have stayed in Banbury and as we left today the town had several barrel organ grinders playing.

Thursday, 4 September 2014

As we were getting ready to set off this morning another boater said did we see Timothy West and a film crew go past last night, Hilary thought she saw someone who looked like him.
Little way up the canal we saw a film crew getting on a boat and as we passed Timothy and Prunella were inside the boat.
But as we waited at the next lock look who arrived.

Wednesday, 3 September 2014

The other day we moored just before bridge 212 where Cassie even enjoyed it as there were no bikes and could be left on the towpath to enjoy the shade.
Today we came through Sommerton Deep Lock heading towards Banbury.

Monday, 1 September 2014

We left Thrupp in the sunshine but soon showers started making it a damp journey.
The Oxford Canal is known for lift bridges and we passed one that shut the canal for a few days when it totally collapsed.

Sunday, 31 August 2014

The top shows the ruins of a nunnery at Godstow Lock as we leave Oxford.
The bottom two pictures shows Kings Lock which is the last lock before we travel along Dukes Cut to the Oxford Canal.

Saturday, 30 August 2014

Today we discovered the Covered Market where we managed to stock up with some fantastic meats for dinners.
Hilary followed the walk around the city with an open top bus tour.

Friday, 29 August 2014

Thursday we moved on to Oxford where we are going to stay for a few days.
Today we said our farewell's to Yvonne and Dave after lunch in the Punter Pub as they travel on to Lechlade.
Wednesday night we moored near Iffley Lock woken early by the rower's getting ready at 7.30am.

Wednesday, 27 August 2014

What a difference a day makes this morning we woke up to sunshine.
The bottom picture shows Muneham House which was about the only highlight of today.
Last couple days have been very wet as we travelled on to Abingdon, we think now we are in the boring bit of the Thames.

Sunday, 24 August 2014

Tonight we are moored Wallingford after last nights perfect mooring, tonight we moored to three trees and have to climb a bank to get to the towpath.
